Government Act No. 6 allowed for the establishment of St. Joseph University in 2016. With the sincere intention of educating the people of Nagaland, it is a private, catholic research university administered by DMI (Daughter of Mary Immaculate) sisters and MMI (Missionaries of Mary Immaculate) fathers. The University Grants Commission (UGC) and AICTE both recognise and accredit the institution (All India Council for Technical Education). All programmes offer merit-based admission, although applicants for B.Tech. and MBA admission must also have a passing score on the entrance exams (JEE Main and MAT respectively).
The university's overarching goal is to develop its students into global leaders by fostering their interpersonal and intrapersonal competencies through interdisciplinary skill-based coursework.
