Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Hyderabad is a public technical and research university located in Hyderabad, Telangana, India. It was established in 2008 as part of the second phase of IITs, and is one of the eight new IITs established by the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India.

IIT Hyderabad offers undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral programs in engineering, science and humanities. It has 11 departments, including departments of computer science and engineering, electrical engineering, mechanical and aerospace engineering, mathematics, physics, chemistry, liberal arts, design, biotechnology, materials science and engineering, and civil engineering.

IIT Hyderabad Admission Process

The admission process for Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Hyderabad varies depending on the program for which you are applying. Generally, the admission process for undergraduate programs (B.Tech) and postgraduate programs (M.Tech, MS, Ph.D.) at IIT Hyderabad is as follows:

For Undergraduate Programs (B.Tech):
  • The candidate needs to appear for the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main conducted by National Testing Agency (NTA).
  • The candidates who qualify the JEE Main exam will be eligible to appear for JEE Advanced, which is conducted by IITs on a rotational basis.
  • Candidates who qualify JEE Advanced will have to participate in the JoSAA (Joint Seat Allocation Authority) counseling process to get admission to IIT Hyderabad.
  • During the JoSAA counseling, candidates can select IIT Hyderabad as their preferred institute and branch.
  • After the seat allocation process, candidates need to complete the admission process by paying the admission fee and submitting the required documents.
For Postgraduate Programs (M.Tech, MS, Ph.D.):
  • Candidates need to apply for admission through the online application portal of IIT Hyderabad.
  • Candidates need to appear for a written test and/or an interview, which is conducted by IIT Hyderabad.
  • Based on the candidate's performance in the written test and/or interview, they will be shortlisted for admission.
  • Shortlisted candidates will receive an offer letter, which will contain details about the program, admission fees, and other relevant information.

IIT Hyderabad Eligibility & Selection Criteria

Selection for the undergraduate programs is based on the candidate's performance in the respective entrance examinations.

Undergraduate Programs:

B.Tech: Candidates must have passed the 10+2 examination with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as compulsory subjects from a recognized board. Additionally, they must have appeared for the JEE (Joint Entrance Examination) conducted by the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs).

BSc: Candidates must have passed the 10+2 examination with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as compulsory subjects from a recognized board. Additionally, they must have appeared for either the JEE (Joint Entrance Examination) conducted by the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) or the KVPY (Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana) examination.


Postgraduate Programs:

M.Tech: Candidates must have a bachelor's degree in engineering or technology in the relevant field from a recognized university. Additionally, they must have appeared for the GATE (Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering) examination.

M.Sc: Candidates must have a bachelor's degree in science in the relevant field from a recognized university. Additionally, they must have appeared for the JAM (Joint Admission Test) examination.

Selection for the postgraduate programs is based on the candidate's performance in the respective entrance examinations and/or academic record.

Doctoral Programs:

Ph.D.: Candidates must have a master's degree in the relevant field from a recognized university. Additionally, they must have qualified for any of the following examinations: GATE, CSIR-UGC NET, JRF, or equivalent national-level examinations.

Selection for the doctoral programs is based on the candidate's performance in the qualifying examination, written test, and/or interview.

As of my knowledge cutoff date of September 2021, the fee structure for Indian Institute of Technology Hyderabad (IIT Hyderabad) for the academic year 2021-2022 is as follows:

B.Tech (per semester):
Tuition fee: Rs. 1,00,000
Other fees: Rs. 6,400
Total: Rs. 1,06,400
M.Tech (per semester):
Tuition fee: Rs. 50,000
Other fees: Rs. 6,400
Total: Rs. 56,400
Ph.D:
Tuition fee: Rs. 5,000 per semester
Other fees: Rs. 4,500 per semester
Total: Rs. 9,500 per semester

IIT Hyderabad Documents Required

Still, you'll need to give several documents to complete the admission process, If you're a pupil who has been named for admission to IIT Hyderabad. Then are some of the crucial documents that you'll probably be needed to submit 

  1.  Class 10th and 12th Marksheet These mark wastes are obligatory for every aspirant. 
  2.  JEE( Main) scorecard and admit card You'll need to give these documents as evidence of your JEE score and eligibility. 
  3.  Transfer Certificate You'll need to give a transfer instrument from your former academy or council. 
  4.  Character Certificate You'll need to give a character instrument from your former academy or council. 
  5.  estate instrument If you belong to a reticent order, you'll need to give a estate instrument. 
  6.  Income instrument If you're applying under any order which provides fiscal aid to the scholars also an income instrument is needed. 
  7.  Passport- size photos You'll need to give several passport- size photos. 
  8.  Aadhar card You'll also need to give your Aadhar card as a evidence of identity. 
  9.  Medical Certificate A medical instrument is also needed as evidence of fitness to study at IIT Hyderabad.
