The University Grants Commission has notified the cancellation of its newly introduced Central University Common Entrance Test, commonly known as CUCET 2021 amid the prevailing Covid-19 outbreak and keeping in mind the safety of the students and officials involved in the exam.
The ministry of education had announced the CUCET exam in 2019. It is one of its kind exam for admission in all government universities of the country including top universities of India like Delhi University and Jawaharlal Nehru University. The exam was introduced to bring conformity in all the government universities with regards to admission unlike the existing pattern of multiple exams and merit-based admission.
The new pattern of the CUCET exam was supposed to start from the 2020-21 session but now the said exam has been cancelled for the second successive year in light of the Covid-19 outbreak in the world.
“In view of prevailing Covid-19 pandemic, admission process in Central Universities during Acad session 2021-22, may continue as per practice. Central University Common Entrance Test (CUCET) may be implemented from Acad session 2022-23.” Said UGC in a tweet.
Students are advised to visit the home page of Government Universities for the update on their respective admission policy, or they can visit www.universityfindo.com for updates on admission to top universities of the country.
