The university has its origins in a council that was established in 1947 by the Maharaja of Karaikudi. In 1950, the association came part of Annamalai University. In 1978, it was separated from Annamalai University and renamed Alagappa College. In 1985, it was upgraded to a full- fledged university and renamed Alagappa University.
The university lot is spread over 660 acres of land in Karaikudi, about 600 km from Chennai. Admission Process For Alagappa University
Admission to Alagappa University is a two- step process. First, pupils must take an entrance examination. Second, pupils must submit an operation form to the university.
The entrance examination is conducted by the Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission( TNPSC). It's held in May and June every time. The operation form can be submitted online or offline.
