Placements Criteria

IIT Roorkee bagged 272 placement offers on the first day of its 2020-21 recruitment drive. A total of 265 companies have booked a slot for IIT Roorkee campus placements this December, which includes some of the major tech companies of India as well as abroad.

Over 60% of the total students have already been placed and a 10% hike has been observed in the average pay package at IIT Roorkee.

Out of which 25 of them- Alphonso, Amazon, Analog Devices, AppDynamics India Pvt. Ltd., Bajaj Auto Ltd., Codenation, Cohesity, Flipkart, Goldman Sachs, Intel Technology Pvt. Ltd., Jaguar Land Rover, JPMorgan Chase & Co., Micron Technologies Operations India LLP, Microsoft, Oracle, Qualcomm India Pvt. Ltd., Quantbox Research Pvt. Ltd., SAP Labs, Solar Energy Corporation of India Limited (SECI), Sprinklr India Pvt. Ltd, Squarepoint Capital, Texas Instruments, Uber, Vedanta Limited (Cairn Oil & Gas) visited the campus on December 1, 2020.

Up till the first slot during the third day, around 107 recruiters had participated in the virtual placement season. The number of recruiters has exponentially increased from only 25 companies hiring on the first day. The students also bagged an offer worth INR. 80 LPA within the first day itself.

IIT Roorkee had kick-started its 2020-21 placement drive on December 1, 2020, with over 272 placement offers. It concluded the third day of the 2020-21 placement drive, with 484 offers, and by the fourth day, the institute recorded 585 job offers including the pre-placement offers. Students at IIT-Roorkee have received 9 job offers from various offshore companies. Over 147 companies made 632 offers (including PPOs) within the second slot of day six of the placement drive. Around 650 students got placed on the Day-7 of the placement drive.

The students had already bagged 149 pre-placement offers within the first week of November, bypassing last year’s total PPOs of 140. The institute also bagged an offer worth INR. 80 LPA.

Ltd., Jaguar Land Rover, JPMorgan Chase & Co., Micron Technologies Operations India LLP, Microsoft, Oracle, Qualcomm India Pvt. Ltd. visited the campus on December 1, 2020.

During the 2019-20 placement session, A total of 406 job offers including the PPOs had been provided. IIT Roorkee had managed to achieve a rare feat as three of its B.Tech. students bagged job offers of INR. 1.54 CPA from an American MNC. The students got placed in an international firm. Amongst the Indian recruiters, the highest package offered to an IIT-Roorkee student is INR. 62.28 LPA.

Google, Amazon, JP Morgan, Goldman Sachs, and Microsoft were amongst a host of companies that recruited a total of 900 students from the IIT Roorkee this placement season.

With regard to the placements provided under the department of Management, the institute recently released its final placement report. Over 32 companies provided 82 job offers to a batch of 77 students. The average salary package offered to the top 25%ile was of INR. 13.16 LPA.

The Department of Management Studies released its 2019-21 summer placement report as per which, the average stipend offered to the students amounted to INR. 60,000/- while the average stipend of the top 50% of the batch stood INR. 78,000/-. The top 25% of the students grabbed an average stipend of INR. 88,750/-

Placement season begins in our final year. The nature of companies coming to IITR is quite diverse. There are software giants like Microsoft, Oracle, Google, Facebook. Banks like Goldman Sachs and Morgan Stanley. Oil and mining companies of Schlumberger, Shell and Rio Tinto, and numerous other firms. This year the total number of job offers were 803 and companies participated 139. Highest international package: 1.5 crores. Highest domestic offer: 80 lakhs. The placement season begins in the months of October, November, and December. Your CG matters and most importantly coding matters in one way or another.

Campus aids you in the third-year first semester, where companies come to hire interns, on-campus interns. It involves rounds of testing, applications, and interviews. Off-campus internships involve students applying on their own, involve mailing. It can be applied any year, any semester. GSoC is quite popular here. Research interns involve you working with a professor on a project.

As with other IITs placement of Iit Roorkee is just wow. Placement starts from the 7th semester of btech student. The average package is around 10-12 lacks per annum where maximums is 1.5crore. more than 200 companies including google Microsoft visits to the campus. And almost every student gets placed. In core, the average package is 8-10lacks where in noncore it is about 12 lack per annum. The highest package in India is about 50lacks

Campus placement happens over a period of 2 months with many companies in different sectors of the industry visiting the campus. Established firms, big names, and startups all make it to the floor giving a huge pool of options to choose from. Training and placement cell work throughout the day to help more students get a job of their liking.

Students become eligible for placement in the 7th semester in a 4-year course and in the 9th semester if the course is 10 years. Students get internships offered in the first year. Microsoft, MasterCard, ola are some of its companies, many companies including engineering jobs visit, and nearly 1500 offers are made. This year the highest package was 1.5 crore per annum and the average package was nearly 15 lakhs per annum. Students who don't opt for higher studies got placed, which means that 90 percent of students get placed.

The fee is almost 2,50,000 per year with all facilities included. All SC/ST and PWD are exempted from paying tuition fees. Students with annual income less than 1Lakh don't have to pay tuition fees and those having income >1 lakh but <5 lakh have to pay 1/3rd of fees. James Thomson Scholarship: if AIR<=300. Rs. 25,000 per month. Aditya Birla Scholarship: Top 20 students in the institute in JEE rank wise. The applicants have to pass write-ups, interviews, and many. Rs 1,00,000 per year cash prize. Merit-cum-means Scholarship 25% of students in each branch. Family income is less than 5Lakhs. Student fees are waived. Inspire: For students enrolled in basic science stream. Rs 80,000 per year and many more. There are a large number of awards, you can always google the names: Excellence Award from IITR Heritage foundation, IITR Encore Awards, Director's Gold Medal, Tarachand Award, Kaustabh Roy memorial cash prize, Rai Jai Singh cash prize and many more.

Cost increased for the 2016 batch. There were a lot of scholarship options and fee waiver policies for extraordinary students. There is a placement policy available for everyone which ensures around 100-150 companies visit the campus every year and hire actively covering more than 90% of the students who opted for placements.
