Private institution VIT-AP University is situated in Inavolu, Amaravati, the nation's capital of Andhra Pradesh. The Vellore Institute of Technology founded the first private university in Amaravati.

On November 3, 2016, former chief minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu laid the cornerstone for the new education district in the proposed capital in Ainavolu. The campus of the VIT University in Amaravati was given 200 acres of land by the state government.

On November 28, 2017, the chief minister and vice president Venkaiah Naidu opened two freshly built blocks to officially open the Campus.
