Sri Siddhartha Academy of Higher Education, (designated as Deemed to be University under Section 3 of the UGC Act, 1956), Tumkur, was created. From June 1st, 2008, Sri Siddhartha Medical College and Sri Siddhartha Dental College have been operating as members of Sri Siddhartha Academy of Higher Education. Further, in accordance with a notification issued by the Government of India under Notification No. F.9-31/2006-U.3(A) dated December 16, 2008, the UGC included the Sri Siddhartha Institute of Technology, Maralur, Tumkur, as an off-campus constituent teaching unit of the Sri Siddhartha Academy of Higher Education, Tumkur, effective March 6, 2009.
