Kancheepuram, Tamil Nadu, India's Sri Chandrasekarendra Saraswathi Viswa Maha Vidyalaya [SCSVMV] is a designated university. Their Holiness Pujyasri Jayendra Saraswathi Swamigal and Pujyasri Sankara Vijayendra Saraswati Swamigal gave their permission for the university's founding in 1993. In 1993, it received the designation of Deemed University.

On May 26, 1993, the Ministry of Human Resources Development, in accordance with Section 3 of the UGC Act, designated the school as a "Deemed University."

The Viswa Mahavidyalaya's motto, "Vande Sadgurum Chandrasekharam," is translated as "I revere the noble preceptor guru Sri Chandrashekarendra Saraswati Mahaswami." The palm represents the wisdom he passed on to next generations. The fusion of brahma and jeeva (the advaita philosophy), symbolised by the thumb and forefinger coming together, can also be seen as the fusion of traditional vedic knowledge with contemporary scientific understanding. The 18 vidyasthanams, 64 ancient arts, and ghatikasthanam (seat of knowledge) are symbolised by the grantha (palm leaves) and vyasapeetha (wooden pedestal for books).
