In Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India, there is a deemed university called SIST (SIST), formerly known as Sathyabama University. Jeppiaar, who passed away in 2001, established it in 1987 as Sathyabama Engineering College.

Around 15 kilometres from Chennai's Adyar is where the university is located in Sholinganallur. 400 acres make up its campus. In Rajiv Gandhi Salai, the college is situated (formerly known as Old Mahabalipuram Road and popularly known as IT Corridor).

The National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) has granted SIST accreditation with a grade of "A."

The National Buildings Organization (NBO), the university's accrediting authority, recently granted the department of computer science and engineering the honour of accreditation.
