In Gandhinagar, Gujarat, India, Rashtriya Raksha University (RRU), originally Raksha Shakti University (RSU), is a central university and an Institute of National Importance. It specializes in maintaining internal and external security. The Indian Defence University (IDU), which focuses on the Indian military, should not be confused with RRU, which focuses on the police and paramilitary Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF).

It was created in 2009 by the Gujarat government of India. The university was transferred from the Government of Gujarat to the Government of India in 2020 by an act of the Indian Parliament.

The university provides research degree programs at the undergraduate, graduate, and professional diploma and certificate levels. On July 22, 2010, Narendra Modi, a former Gujarati chief minister, officially opened the institution.

Through the Rashtriya Raksha University Act, which was approved by Parliament in October 2020, the university has been upgraded to Rashtriya Raksha University, a national university, as an Institute of National Importance.

When Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi served as Gujarat's chief minister in 2009, Raksha Shakti University (RSU) was established by the state of Gujarat. The university was established to give young people greater educational opportunities in the areas of internal security, police science, forensic science, and cyber security. It places a strong focus on training in professional security, strategy, and defense.
