By means of IITRAM Act No. 5, the Gujarati government created IITRAM in 2013. L. K. Advani, a former deputy prime minister of India and member of the Lok Parliament from Gandhinagar, opened IITRAM.

Engineering studies leading to the Bachelor of Technology degree are available from IITRAM Ahmedabad in the disciplines of Civil, Electrical, and Mechanical Engineering.

 Academic Council for Professional Colleges (ACPC) account for 50% of admission to these schools, with the remaining 50% coming from the Joint Entrance Test - Main (JEE – Mains).

 The school also provides PhD and Master's degree programmes in a variety of technical, scientific, humanities, and social science disciplines. Writing tests and/or interviews are required for admission to these doctoral programmes.
