CHRIST (Deemed To Be University) is deemed to be a university in Bangalore, Karnataka, India, Founded in 1969 as an autonomous college, on 22 July 2008 it was declared as an institution deemed to be a university under section 3 of the UGC Act 1956 by the Ministry of Education (India). About Christ University

Christ which is deemed to be University was born out of the educational vision of St. Kuriakose Elias Chavara, Who is an educationalist and social reformer of the nineteenth century from South India. He founded the first indigenous Catholic congregation Carmelites of Mary Immaculate (CMI) in 1831, Which was then administered as CHRIST (Deemed to be University).

It was then identified as an “institution with potential for excellence” In 2006 and later in the Year 2008 under section 3 of the UGC Act, 1956, the Ministry of Human Resource Development of the Government of India, and declared the institution a “Deemed to be University” in the name and style of Christ University.

In the Year 2018 Supreme Court of India gave direction and the word university was removed, thus making it Christ Deemed to be University and at that time in 1998 it was the first institution in India to be accredited 1998 by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC), and subsequently in 2004 and 2016 has been awarded Grade ‘A’  and 4-point scale were granted to the Crist University.

The Main Campus of the universities is spread over an area of 25 acres and is a part of the 100-acre of Dharmaram College campus in the central part of the city Bangalore. It is one of the extensions of Hosur Road on the NH 7 opposite to the Bangalore Dairy Circle Flyover. Recently the Christ University will be opening a new campus in Yeshwanthpur in July 2023, it also consists of two more campuses one of them is in Delhi NCR, which was established in the year 2013 and the other one is at the Lavasa, Pune which was established in the year 2007.
