The Vice-Chancellor of the CUTN (CUTN), which now enrols over 2,000 students in 27 Departments organised into 12 Schools in Thiruvarur, Tamil Nadu, India, is Prof. M. Krishnan. The National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) assigned CUTN a ranking between 51 and 100 among Indian institutions in 2022.

In accordance with the Central Universities Act, 2009, CUTN was founded by the Indian government. B. P. Sanjay was selected to serve as its first vice chancellor when it debuted in September 2009. (V-C). In August 2015, Aditya Prasad Dash was selected as the V-C.

In July 2018, G. Padmanabhan succeeded V. Krishnamurthy as the Chancellor. Aditya Prasad Dash was replaced as acting V-C in August 2020 by Karpaga Kumaravel. On August 6, 2021, Prof. M. Krishnan took over as the next regular V-C of CUTN. The institution opened its doors in November 2009 with eight M.A. English Studies students. Now, it offers more than 60 programmes. Thiruvarur is home to CUTN, which spans 516.76 acres.
