The AIIMS (AIIMS) Bhopal is a public medical research university and Institute of National Importance that is situated in the Madhya Pradesh suburb of Saket Nagar, Bhopal. The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare founded it as one of the All India Institutes of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) as part of the Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojna (PMSSY). A combination test called NORCET was held as part of the recruitment procedure for Aiims Bhopal under Aiims Delhi. The first Norcet test was given in 2020; the second was given in 2021; and the third exam was given on September 11, 2022.

A new AIIMS will be built at Rishikesh, Bhopal, Patna, Jodhpur, Bhubaneswar, and Raipur, the central government determined in 2003. Even though the project was announced in 2003, during Atal Bihari Vajpayee's administration, the delay was caused by the change in the centre of power. Community and family medicine (CFM), the first academic department of AIIMS Bhopal, was established in July 2013 and began offering postgraduate programmes in January 2017 (47% of building was completed at that time).
