The Haryana Legislative Assembly founded Al Falah University by passing Act 21 of 2014 under the Haryana Private University Act 2006, which was revised in 2014 and announced on May 2, 2014.The Al-Falah University was also approved by the UGC in 2015 under sections 2(f) and 12(B) of the UGC Act of 1956.

Al-Falah University is an initiative of the Al-Falah Charitable Trust, which previously operated three institutions on campus: Al Falah School of Engineering and Technology (since 1997, graded A by NAAC), Brown Hill College of Engineering and Technology, and Al Falah University. (since 2008).

Al Falah University was one of the first universities to implement a Choice Based Credit System under semester examinations as per UGC guidelines in 2015, as well as a two-year B.Ed. and M.Ed. programmes as recommended by NCTE.
